Your Birth Chart is Gold

People often look to astrology to help them understand confusing or troubling times in their life, and this can give astrology a negative connotation. It can make you feel like you are at the disposal of the planets, and have little agency over your own life, and that’s not true.

It's more important to understand your own birth chart (which shows you where the planets were at your exact time of birth), rather than get wrapped up in the current astrology.

I love paying attention to current astrology. It's fascinating to see certain themes play out in the collective and personally as well, but it's important to remember:

1. Nothing is more important than your birth chart.

2. The current astrology doesn't mean the same thing for everyone.

Generic horoscopes, such as the rising sign horoscopes that I wrote for the New Moon in Libra, are based on your rising sign, and that comes from a type of chart calculation called "whole house". Whole house works well, and some astrologers actually prefer to use whole house charts, but some astrologers (myself included) prefer to use a placidus chart because it is more exact. Depending on the exact degree of your rising sign, a certain astrological transit (such as a  new or full moon, or mercury retrograde) could take place in a different area of your chart than a whole house chart would show you, and so it will play out in your life very differently!

It's also true that some transits may be a huge deal collectively, but make no aspects to your birth chart, and so you don't see too much happening to yourself, personally.

The birth chart can show us almost anything; it can explain so much! For example, a person with Mars in Aries will use their energy in a completely different way than a Mars in Taurus person would, and a person with their Sun conjunct their moon will have a very different way of expressing their nature in the world than a person with Sun conjunct Uranus!

I'm sharing all of this because the most useful thing about astrology truly is in YOUR birth chart. I’ve spent the past eleven years looking at astrology charts and it has shown me that most people are pretty unaware of what their purpose is, and what they need to thrive. To harness your gifts and get ahold of your unconscious patterns that may be holding you back, working with your birth chart can be super helpful, and even therapeutic.

The birth chart is gold! And when you approach it with an open heart and find an astrologer who wants to inform you rather than scare you, it can be like listening to a song that sings directly to your soul, because it actually is the story of your soul, and what you agreed to do on this planet, in this life...if you believe in all that. :)

Lots of Love,

Marlena
